Daiwa Capital MD Alok Vajpeyi puts in papers

Alok Vajpeyi, managing director and senior head of equities of Daiwa Capital Markets, is moving out of the Japanese firm after an eight-month stint. In May 2011, Vajpeyi joined Daiwa, Japan's second largest brokerage, from Dawnay Day AV, where he was the vice chairman and managing director. When contacted, Vajpeyi declined to talk about his future plans. Recently, Daiwa S ecurities asked 18 executives from its domestic investment banking, research, and sales divisions to leave. 

Chetan Mehra quits great offshore board

More than a year after being elevated to the board of directors at Great Offshore, Chetan Mehra, the son-in-law of chairman, PC Kapoor, resigned from the board. Bharati Shipyard, promoted by PC Kapoor and Vijay Kumar, had acquired Great Offshore in 2009 and Chetan Mehra was widely seen as instrumental in the acquisition.  Mehra, who was appointed as a director at Great Offshore in February last year, was later elevated as an executive director in September this year. In December, he resigned as executive director of the company, but decided to stay on as a director in the debt-laden offshore major. 

McCain Foods India appoints Vikas Mittal as MD

McCain Foods India, the subsidiary of McCain Foods Canada, announced the appointment of Vikas Mittal as its Managing Director. In this capacity, Vikas will play a key role in shaping long-term growth strategies for the company besides building the McCain brand in India, the company said in a release issued. “Vikas brings a wealth of FMCG Marketing and general management experience to his new role, and is a true internationalist. We welcome Vikas to the McCain family,” McCain Foods Regional President - Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa - Fred Schaeffer said. An alumnus of IIM Lucknow and Delhi College of Engineering, Vikas has over 20 years of experience working across most competitive FMCG categories including Haircare, Skincare, Foods and Beverage, Laundry, Homecare, OTC and Healthcare. 
Prior to this, Vikas worked with Dabur India where he was Executive Vice President (Marketing) for its personal and home care division and subsequently moved as head of innovations. Vikas has held key positions in India, Middle East, Africa and South East Asia in organisations like Proctor and Gamble & Friesland Campina (a Netherlands-based Dairy Cooperative). Headquartered in Canada, McCain Foods is the world's largest producer of French fries and potato specialities with 50 plants in six continents and net annual sales of over USD 6 billion.
